Water Fitness
A.O.A. (Active older adult)
Shallow or deep water fitness program is designed to target older adult's cardiovascular fitness, flexibility, muscular strength and endurance, plus improve the activities to perform activities of daily living.
Water Range of Motion
The Water Range of Motion program provides individuals with arthritis a recreational group exercise program in a safe environment. The Water Range of Motion format is most appropriate for individuals who are sedentary, have low cardio-respiratory endurance and have severe joint limitations. Water Range of Motion decreases joint pain and stiffness by improving joint flexibility, muscle strength, balance and coordination.
Water Fitness
This class is designed to give participants the experience of a variety of water exercises. The class will increase cardio respiratory function, muscle strength and overall endurance. (Branches will note on schedule - location of class and intensity (shallow or deep and high, medium or low)
Waterwalk
This class is for all levels and very low impact. Emphasis is on flexibility, balance and building endurance. It is a great way to get started in a water exercise program or a warm up for any other activity.

Swim Lessons
Parent / Tot
Children 6-36 months old, children are accompanied by a parent or guardian into the pool for fun, exercise, parent education and safe water adjustment. Each class is 30 minutes, once a week for 4 weeks.
Pre-School Swim Lesson
Children 3-5 years old, this is a child’s first experience in the pool without parental assistance. The children are taught basic skills. They also learn about pool safety, boating safety and the use of personal flotation devices (PFDs). Each class is 30 minutes, twice a week for 4 weeks.
Youth Swim Lesson
Children 6-12 years old, this program comprises five main components; personal growth, personal safety, stroke development, water sports and games and rescue. Each skill level builds upon the preceding level, covering all the strokes, diving fundamentals and safety skills.
Adult Swim Lesson
This class is designed for individuals age 14 and up who are "ready" to learn to swim. Objectives for this class are to assist a participant in water adjustment and overcoming their fear of water or to improve rudimentary front/back crawl/paddle skills and increase endurance. The major focus will be for each individual to meet and improve their personal swimming goals and abilities.
Private Swim Lessons
This instructional class is designed for one on one private swimming or competitive lessons for one individual at any age with any skill level.
Semi Private Swim Lessons
This small group instructional class is designed for two individuals of equal swimming or competitive skill level.
Sunshine Swim Lessons
This class is designed for parents to accompany their child or children who have been diagnosed with Autism, physical or developmental disabilities. The aim is for the children to have fun, exercise, safe water adjustment and interaction with other children. This class will educate the parents on supervision and working with their children in the water. A parent or trusted adult, 18 or older, must accompany the child in the water.

Other Classes Offered
Lifeguard classes
This class is a YMCA of the USA program training certification course for YMCA lifeguards, it is a 30 hour course (19 classroom hours, 11 pool hours) and the certification is valid for 2 years. The Lifeguard and Lifeguard recertification classes will be offered throughout the year in 2009.
CPR for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid classes
This class is an American Red Cross certification. Every lifeguard must have CPR for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid certification. The CPR certification is valid for one year and the First Aid certification is valid for 3 years.
