Building blocks for life
We believe the values and skills learned early on are vital building blocks for life. The YMCA makes sure that every child has an opportunity to envision and pursue a positive future.
At the Y, babies develop trust and security; preschoolers experience early literacy and learn about their world; and school-age kids make friends, learn new skills and do homework. Most importantly, children learn how to be their best selves. That makes for confident kids today and contributing engaged adults tomorrow.
Rest assured, your kids are in good hands at the Y. Our childcare, afterschool and preschool staff understand the cognitive, physical and social development of children. We recognize the need children have to feel connected and supported, as well as the care and reinforcement parents and families need. All staff are trained in First Aid/CPR and receive special instruction related to safety and child development.
Healthy Eating and Physical Activity Standards
What is HEPA?
Former first Lady Michelle Obama and the Partnership for a Healthier America (PHA) raised the call. The Y answered it. As part of our focus on developing healthy habits in kids, families, and our communities, we have committed to adopting standards for healthy eating and physical activity (HEPA) in our early learning, day camp, and afterschool programs. Review the standards.
