NUQEILLA ROBINSON
Downtown Family YMCA Member
Nuqeilla Robinson is a Chattanooga native and proud graduate of Howard High School, where she excelled as a student athlete and state champion. Her lifelong passion for athletics began at a young age, with basketball being her primary focus. Robinson vividly remembers requesting a basketball during every Easter and Christmas, and when tasked with a Black History project, she would often choose an athlete like Wilma Rudolph.
The James A. Henry YMCA played a pivotal role in Robinson’s personal growth, as she spent countless hours honing her dribbling skills and discovering her identity. As she grew older, she explored various sports, including track and field, volleyball, and softball, while maintaining a strong commitment to athletics throughout her academic career. Functional strength training was a daily routine, but Robinson’s visits to the YMCA were always a source of excitement. The YMCA has been a cornerstone of her life, providing a sense of community and accountability. As a physical therapy student and mother of two, Robinson says she is honored to share her YMCA experience with her family and looks forward to continuing this legacy. The YMCA remains an integral part of her family’s lifestyle, and she is grateful to be part of this community.
