Thursday, May 13, 2021 -- The YMCA of Metropolitan Chattanooga has been awarded the United Way Nonprofit of the Year Award, sponsored by Double Cola Company. The award, recognized the Y for its recent work during 2020 including: 

  • Providing more than 400,000 meals to children due to schools being closed during the COVID-19 pandemic, and an additional 26,000 pounds of HEALTHY food.
  • Providing Essential Worker Childcare free of charge to to families (serving approx. 700 children).
  • Assistance and support to seniors by way of hundreds of phone calls to offer guidance, support and community to this population of individuals. 
  • Tornado Relief response by the Hamilton Family YMCA in the aftermath of the Easter 2020 Tornadoes.
