What is the PIT?

 

The PIT, our Performance Intensity Training Studio, offers a secondary Wellness Floor & Group Exercise Space focused on performance & strength training with free weights, stationary bikes, rowers and more.

 

Where is the PIT?

The PIT is located on the Ground Floor of the Downtown Family YMCA. You can either take the elevator to the ground floor & follow the signage from there or go down the stairs from the lobby and walk past aquatics to the door at the end of the hallway.

Rising Rock CrossFit:

Each class is instructor-led through the warmup, skills training, work out of the day, our high intensity piece, and cool down.

Rising Rock is named to honor Chattanooga, derived from the Muskogean word for Lookout Mountain, roughly translated to “rock rising to a point.”  CrossFit combines elements of cardiovascular endurance, weightlifting, and everyday movements. Our Rising Rock CrossFit staff are skilled at tailoring options appropriate for each individual to help you reach your goals. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced athlete, this class is for you!

Mon-Thurs:

CrossFit Legends:

 

Our CrossFit Legends class is geared for members ages 50+ who are motivated to improve their physical wellness. Our approch to master's programming is movement and mobility first, CrossFit second. We coach older athletes how to minimize the effect of aging, restore general physical capacity, and re-learn how to move well.

 

Classes are offered in the PIT on the following days/times:

NEW! CrossFit Kids:

CrossFit Kids is the most comprehensive strength and conditioning program for kids and teens. We’ve developed a curriculum that combines time-tested, proven movements with games to make workouts fun while delivering measurable results. Through CrossFit Kids, children will learn proper movement patterns, work on their coordination and balance, make lifelong friends, develop mental focus, self-discipline and build confidence. Free for members.

 

Classes are offered in the PIT on the following days/times. *Please check your child into class at Child watch.

Mon/Wed/Fri

  • Ages 3-5 - 10 a.m.
  • Ages 6-8 - 4:30 p.m.
  • Ages 9-12 - 5:30 p.m.

After Burn:

After Burn uses HIIT training to give you a greater level of fitness, transforming your body into a calorie-burning furnace. This class welcomes all fitness levels and is coach-led, using a combination of cardio and strength equipment.
